ABSTRACT
There is some energy wastage in track works caused by long and unproductive stoppages of machines with running engines (ineffective idling). In addition, the frequently occurring low load on the combustion engine results in a substantially high fuel consumption (low general efficiency). The analyzes were conducted to determine the operating conditions and energy consumption of the SM42 locomotive used during the modernization works on the railway line.
