ABSTRACT
The article presents a review of the constructional solutions of running gears of freight wagons resulting from the requirements of national and European regulations. A short characteristic of traction vehicles operating in freight traction is presented. A brief historical outline of the running gears of freight wagons is contained. The main types of bogies used in Poland and Europe are described, mainly the Y25 family of bogies . Requirements of the interchangeability of the running gear as a standard gear are presented. The main issues related to the design of running systems, requirements, criteria and technical specifications were discussed.
