The article presents a rail-road tractor made on the basis of the agricultural tractor
CLAAS ARION 620, adapted for riding on the railway tracks. The most important
technical parameters are presented. They allow the vehicle to be adapted to perform
the shunting works with the wagons and the different other track works. The analysis
of toxic compounds emission during the movement in the real conditions was made
from the riding on the track without the load and with the loads of the drive unit. The
obtained values of toxic compounds emission and fuel consumption are related to the
results obtained from previous studies of SM42 diesel locomotive. The presented economic
and environmental calculations indicates 60% reduction of costs and 74.8%
reduction of toxic compounds emission to advantage of the rail-road agricultural
tractor.
