The study investigated the possibility of using photovoltaic panels on passenger carriages to reduce electrical energy consumption. The first part discusses the possibilities of using solar energy under Polish conditions and presents the general parameters of selected solar panels. In the following section, the possibility of installing photovoltaic panels on a railway carriage is analysed. A theoretical analysis of the topic was carried out, consisting of calculations of photovoltaic panel efficiency and energy gains, taking into account the climate of Poland, power losses, energy storage and type of solar panels
